Course Description:

Disorders of the spine are an important health and social problem as they are one of the main contributors to disability worldwide. Many physical therapists are hesitant to perform a cervical spine evaluation and treatment due to a lack of confidence. This intermediate course is designed for physical therapist who like to manage patients with musculoskeletal cervical dysfunctions in a confident and systematic approach.
The course focuses on enhancing participants knowledge and understanding of the cervical spine functional anatomy and biomechanics, identifying red flags in dealing with this region, advanced examination and clinical reasoning skills in treatments and management of cervical spine that takes into consideration current evidence in regards to Whiplash Syndrome, Articular Derangement, Discogenic Neck Pain and Cervicogenic Headaches and Dizziness.
This hands on intensive course will enable clinicians with evaluation and manual therapy skills appropriate to recognise and treat the most challenging patients. Current intervention based classification as per guidelines of APTA together with evidence based approaches to manual therapy management of cervical spine dysfunction will be discussed in detail. This course emphasize on cervical spine musculoskeletal treatment diagnosis and management including soft tissue, radiculopathy, functional instability and joint restrictions. The clinician will leave the course with knowledge of an eclectic treatment approach and logical clinical reasoning skills that compliments evidence and outcome which providers can use in the following weeks in the clinics to better serve their patients.
A detailed cervical course manual with illustration and instructions will be provided to improve competence and comprehension.
