Course Description:
Every body has a history of movement which has impacted its current muscle balance, function and well-being. Many bodies are completely different from one side to the other, or from front to back, due to limb dominance, or repetitive activities as part of occupation, recreational sport and ADLs which have been performed over the years in a biased manner. Over time, these movement biases and myofascial imbalances may lead to compensatory movement patterns, pain and injury. Therefore, it is an important part of wellness and injury prevention to address both sides of the body independently as well as cooperatively to bring the body into a better balance. This workshop will present a systematic approach to assessing and addressing imbalances on all sides of the body to create more efficient and effective movement patterns. This workshop will include exercises using a variety of Pilates equipment.
