Course Description:
This one and ½ day course will take the practitioner through the continuum of care for patients with lower extremity amputations from acute care to outpatient in order to provide a comprehensive base of knowledge for all practitioners. The Friday evening portion will provide a basic overview of the Acute management of individuals with lower extremity limb loss as well as basic prosthetic componentry and suspension systems. On Saturday, the focus will be on Outpatient management of the individual with lower extremity amputation. This will include initial prosthetic training, exercise prescription, problem solving gait deviations, and progressing through advanced mobility.
