Course Description:
This interactive course is designed to broaden the knowledge and skill set of physical therapists, physical
therapist assistants, and students on understanding and managing compassion fatigue and burnout
amongst individuals in the physical therapy profession. Topics covered will include:
· Recognizing signs of compassion fatigue and burnout
· Understanding the effects of compassion fatigue and burnout on healthcare professionals and the impact on patient care
· Identifying areas we can improve our profession and personal perception of physical therapy
· Maintaining work-life balance through the use of stress-management and self-care techniques
Strategies utilized and presented during this session will promote critical thinking and identify
immediate personal and professional application.
