Course Description:
Documenting for Success addresses current trends in government audits and how strong documentation skills and knowledge of Medicare regulation will help to prevent an audit and increase the denial overturn rate, should an audit should occur. Practical documentation tips and examples will be provided in support of the medical necessity of the evaluation, treatment, and continued treatment in the skilled nursing facility setting, including how to document well for our less typical patients (e.g. low-functioning, high-functioning, contracture management, etc.) Common pitfalls of electronic documentation and how to avoid them will be addressed. The historical evolution of Medicare reimbursement, audits and denials will be discussed along with how to apply regulations to our everyday therapy practice and documentation standards for improved compliance and reimbursement outcomes for all types of patients.
