Course Description:

A 2-day masterclass for clinicians, who are managing runners dealing with lower limb tendinopathy and bone stress injuries (BSIs).

To run, bones need to tolerate strain and tendons must store and release energy. Considering the sheer training volume of most avid runners, it’s no surprise that they often become afflicted with tendon disorders and/or BSIs.

Any clinician who has been in the trenches with runners will attest to the challenges of managing these conditions. Talk about a lot of moving parts! And let’s not forget about having to contend with the “train at all costs” mentality of runners and their tendency to fall prey to tips and tricks.

Having worked with countless runners, we realize that helping a runner get on the other side of a tendon disorder or BSI is no trivial task.

Clinicians must have command of multiple domains while understanding their role as part of a team, which is particularly important in managing BSIs as they often take a village.

Looking back on our careers, we’ll be the first to admit that we were naive when it came to managing runners presenting with tendon disorders and BSIs. This is why Nathan Carlson and Chris Johnson teamed up to develop Bones, Tendons, Weights, & Whistles.

NOTE: This course is best suited for experienced clinicians (>3years of experience in clinical care) and is held twice a year in person and once in a virtual format. The in-person course takes place over a weekend.
